Introduction I was born in Texas but grew up in Pennsylvania. I moved to Alaska when I was 18 and worked in the Alaskan Arctic for an oil exploration (seismic) crew. After a few years there, I moved to Mississippi to attend college. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a sociology minor. I then received my Master of Arts in the Teaching of Languages with dual emphasis in Spanish and TESOL. I then worked for two years as a Visiting Instructor of Spanish at a local university. I have presented original academic work at two conferences. One presentation was on using Discourse Analysis in the classroom, the other was about using code-switching in music to improve listening skills.
