| Esittely | I was born with bilateral profound hearing loss due to Connexin 26. My parents didn't find out I was deaf until I was 20 months old. I then learned SEE2 (Signing Exact English 2) and grew up signing while attending speech therapy. I was mainstreamed with full-time sign language interpreters. I graduated from KU with a B.S. in Genetics. In 2008, I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College's genetic counseling program with a Masters in Human Genetics. After considering a CI for 5 years I had my CI surgery March 5th, 2009 and was activated March 23rd, 2009. |
