Introduction Sylvia Parker is a published writer, photographer and web designer. Growing up in Tuscaloosa, she developed a love for Alabama music and culture from a young age. Sylvia began collecting records as a teenager and eventually developed a keen interest in early to mid-twentieth century popular music - especially the period when country and R&B merged to form rock and roll. She lived in New York City for many years where she coordinated a year-long reading series for SoHo20 Gallery. Along with 50 Miles of Elbow Room and Aum Fidelity, she presented Alabama gospel musician and CaseQuarter recording artist, Isaiah Owens' first appearance in NYC. In 2007 she moved back to Alabama with rock and roll saxman Lars Espensen.

Writing about Alabama music and culture can be found on Alabamalama and Alabama Music History. Information about DeeJay shows is posted on Vinyl Showdown.
