| Introduction | I like to exercise. Once I quit my job as a lawyer to become a personal trainer. It was fun until I realized that I'd quit my job as a lawyer to become a personal trainer. During that month off, I got my first fitness "certification" as a personal trainer from the franchise personal training company that hired me. Next I studied some for the NSCA certification, but never took the test. I also read a few books about fitness and diet. After that, someone told me about CrossFit, and I got Level 1 "certified". That just means I paid $1000 for 2 days of learning how to squat, press, and deadlift a pvc pipe, as well as a crash course in the Zone diet, packed into a one hour lecture. Since then I've picked up a couple of other CrossFit "certifications" that were actually pretty helpful, involving running and olympic lifting. I've read most of Rob Wolf's Paleo diet book, along with The Paleo Diet for Endurance athletes. I've also skimmed dozens of Men's Health magazines. After my month of personal training self-discovery, I went back to being a lawyer, and now only pretend to be a health and wellness expert. |
