| Introduction | I am a 33 year old woman, who is happily settled in a long term relationship with Mr Perfect. I work in finance, have no children and during my spare time I like to write letters. Some of those letters are written to people in prison; something that seems to garner a lot of negative attention and assumption, from close minded individuals wanting to label me as some kind of tragic stereotype. I'd like to dispel the myth that everyone who writes to prisoners, fits the stereotype of a middle aged, lonely woman who sits at home, swooning over the letters she receives, from whichever high-profile serial killer she has become fixated with. We're really not all like that. This blog will record some of my experiences in writing to prisoners and will hopefully make those of you who read it, see just how normal those of us who do so, really are. |
