The Incessant Ramblings of an Introspective High School Student

Introduction	Hi there! I'm Leilani and apparently my political ideology is Solid Liberal. I don't consider myself that much of a liberal, but I prefer the Democratic party to the Republican. I do think I'm a bit politically influenced by my Democratic father. I come from a family of immigrants, and because most of my family members were unable to receive an education in America, they can't obtain high-paying jobs. This, along with my social beliefs and values, has caused me to take a better liking the Democratic party. Unfortunately, I have not been able to vote, but I turned 18 last month and definitely plan on voting in the next election! I am taking this class because I feel that I should be knowledgeable about my own country's history and system of government so that I can make educated decisions when I do something like vote. I hope to learn more about how our government works and about the political parties. I was ranked a Tribune on the Civic Literacy quiz for getting 7/10 questions right, and answered 7/12 correctly on the Current Events quiz, scoring higher than 69% of the general public.
