Introduction | Born in Antioch of a good family; brought up in the traditional Greek education of grammar and rhetoric; studied in Athens, taught in Constantinople, Nicomedia, and in my beloved Antioch. Quite successful as a rhetor--some call me 'Demosthenes the Second'--and as a professor of rhetoric. The man in the picture is not I, but for all you know, I might have looked just like that in my classroom.
