Introduction	Living in the OC it is tough to avoid shopping. As the mother of two grown boys trying to simplify my life has been a priority. But one I have been woefully avoiding. It really became apparent what I needed to do after a November '08 wildfire nearly burned our house to the ground. We came a whisker short of losing everything and thankfully, firefighters saved us. But as I said, simplifying is my new goal. During the fire, I was in a meeting and had no clue there was a fire. When my husband called and told me he was evacuating, I had no idea what to tell him to get from my closet except for my running gear, already packed for a marathon I was running the next day. What he came with was absolutely ridiculous and who could blame him? My drawers and closets are so full of 'stuff' he had no idea what I wear on a regular basis and what is junk. Almost a year has gone by and I have continued to accumulate more and more stuff and now enough is enough! Just STOP! I love my girlfriends and drinking red wine with them. I love sharing books and talking about them and I love my dogs and baseball. I am scared of what I am about to do, BUT also excited about the challenge.
