| Introduction | This blog is written as a philosophical argument to address not just whales in captivity, but to develop a relationship of respect between the orca and the public, which oceanariums claim to do on their websites and in their souvenir booklets, but are incapable of doing, due to the eighteenth century philosopher, David Hume's, argument about the is-ought gap. Oceanariums can only teach about animals, but they cannot teach respect. Teaching respect requires the techniques and theory of philosophy, and it from these techniques and theories in philosophy that a moral relationship. That is, the goal of this blog is to develop practical relationship for everyday usage, not only by those working at oceanariums, but for anyone coming in contact with these and any other kind of whale. |
| Interests | Building a better relationship between the public and the whale. Updating moral theory to include animals. |
