| Introduction | I am a Senior Legal Fellow at The Heritage Foundation. Additionally, I am a Commander in the Navy JAG (Reserve Component), currently assigned as an instructor at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island. I have been a local, state, and federal prosecutor, and was a defense and trial counsel on three active duty tours in the Navy JAG. Additionally, I was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the George Mason University School of Law. Finally, I was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Detainee Affairs from 2006-2007.
