Introduction Great great grand daughter of first tea planter, entrepreneur, prime minister of the Ahom kingdom and freedom fighter of Assam Maniram Dewan. Sanjukta Barooah is a well know Sattriya Nritya dancer hails from Assam. She had started training in the form since 1999. A year after it was recognized as a major dance form of India. She trained at Sangeet Natak Academy award winner Guru Indira P. P. Bora's school Kalabhumi in Assam. She continued learning at Kalabhumi until 2008. She trained from 2009 till 2013 from bhakat of Uttar Kamalabari sattra Bhabananda Barbayan. Now, she is given further training by Padmashri Jatin Goswami. Her objective is to become one with the dance on stage this more than 500 years old living tradition of Sattriya. Therefore, she has become a full time dance professional. Her Ranga Pravesha (Sattriya Dance Graduation Ceremony) was held on 27th March 2011 at India International Centre, New Delhi. This was the first Ranga Pravesha that the capital had witnessed.
