Introduction I am interested in seeing social change happen on the ground. I live in a City with food apartheid. While our local newspapers, City government, and locavore residents glow with praise for Louisville being the "foodie" capital of the South, tens of thousands of families suffer from preventable diet-related illnesses due to lack of access to fresh food. There are many projects out there that provide food to people on an emergency basis, which is necessary. However, what I am interested in is leadership development with like-minded individuals living in our nation's "Food Deserts" who want to take back and create their own local food system. Some of my accomplishments (besides giving birth to the amazing Cicada Ruth Hoyt) include: Named 1 of 12 Jewish Women in Environmental Activism by National Women’s Archive in 2010, One of 10 “Green Jewish Women” honored by Jewish Woman Magazine in 2009, Invited speaker on food justice Hazon’s Jewish Food Movement Conference 2008-2010, Food justice delegation leader, Slow Food’s Terra Madre Conference in Italy 2008 and 2010, Rockefeller Fellow at the Appalachian Center UKY 2002, U.S. Senate Candidate Green Party of Oregon 1998
