Introduction After 20+ years in professional kitchens and the sad closing of my restaurant, this chef retreated to the dirt. I found solace and began to heal my tired self working in some of the most beautiful gardens in southern VT. I learned to get up earlier(!)and came to enjoy the satisfaction of tired muscles after beautiful time spent outside listening to the birds and working at a much different pace. And I must say I so appreciate not being in a restaurant in that special time of day when the suns fades and the light changes and knowing my workday is done. I've met some wonderful and dynamic people that have changed my life and my outlook on living and gardening.(thank you dear Helen!) I met another fascinating character in Sakonnet,RI when after the seminar we doubled back to marvel at a gorgeous clematis (betty corning!)We struck up a conversation and one of the delicious outcomes was my visit and work with himself-Fergus Garret at Great Dixter in East Sussex, England. The journey continues as I travel to France, a place that nourishes my spirit, and beyond! Writing is a portal I escape into to process, enjoy and explore my days.
