Introduction	Voices of the Potteries is a Linguistics PhD project being undertaken by Hannah Leach at the University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Dr Emma Moore and Dr Chris Montgomery. The project has been made possible thanks to generous funding from The Wolfson Foundation, and the kind help of Stoke-on-Trent Museums. Over the next few years, the project aims to document and analyse the accent of Stoke-on-Trent using recordings both old and new, and investigate the relationship between accent, Stokie/Potteries identity, and the region's social and industrial history.
