Occupation Professor of English
Introduction I teach literature, creative writing, and interdisciplinary writing modes at Defiance College. I am a poet and have just finished another chapbook, titled "Some Gods Don't Need Saints." I also publish articles on women’s science fiction and the novels of Louise Erdrich, an Ojibwe writer. My interests in language arts, cultural studies, poetics, and social justice issues have taken me to Cambodia to work on a language arts and ethnography project. I graduated in 1986 from Montana State University and received my Ph.D. in American Literature and Creative Writing/Poetics in 1992 from Bowling Green State University. I was awarded the 2013 Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Prize from the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature.
