Location Europe, definitely
Introduction Expatriate. Whose country of origin is known as 'Brussels' in the rest of the world.
Interests A great many
Favorite Movies That would require three annexes, but if pressed: most of Bergman - in particular Fanny och Alexander and Wild Strawberries, most of Tarantino, No country for old men, Das Leben der Anderen, Goodbye Lenin, Russian Ark, Lola rennt, Dogville, Revolver, Dead Man, Remains of the day, Les Granges Brulées, Le Chat, Jules & Jim, and oh christ so many more
Favorite Music Ecclectic to say the least. Ranging from early polyphonic music to the great names, with a particular liking for Bach when the mood suits me, Mozart -also when the mood suits me, Beethoven but then the piano works, Chopin, Brahms, Schubert, Das Lied von der Erde, Prokoviev, Shostakovitch. That's the classical part where I have unduly skipped a few great composers and pieces. At the other end of the spectre there's some choice ethnic music (ney or classic Persian flute, Abidah Parveen - the queen of sufi chant) and Regina Spektor, yes, absolutely. In-between you'll find jazz, Ella, Billy, Kurt Weil, Marlene Dietrich and other 30s croonies, Jacques Brel.I forgot to mention Anthony & the Johnsons. And some quirky Flemish bands.
Favorite Books Oh dear. An entire library would be needed here. Well, I'd suggest you read my blog. But an old-time favourite, often reread and perused, is VW's Orlando. Naturally, T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets and The Waste Land can't be omitted. I must note a sardonic predeliction for The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. And Robert Penn Warren, my very best friend at the fireplace.
