Introduction I am an independent researcher in international migration law. I hold LL.M degree from University of Wroclaw, Poland. Since 2008 I have been a PhD candidate at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. In April 2011 I started an internship at the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights for Southeast Asia. Before interning at the OHCHR I worked for Polish government in it’s diplomatic offices in Bern, Switzerland and in New York City, the United States. Taking advantage of being in Switzerland and the USA I took part in many workshops on migration and development hosted by the UN and the IOM. This blog was created with the primary goal of presenting, explaining and starting a discussion on modern international migration. My research will focus on modern trends in international migration. I will make an attempt to explain inter alia the correlation between the acceleration of migration and demographic transitions, feminization of migration and changes in global investment patterns, globalization of migration and world’s economic development, the micro- and macro-economic impact of remittances. I look forward for new contributors.
