Interests Walter Crabtree has been writing for the last twenty-five years. His work includes novels, short stories, poetry, and an autobiographical work. He studied creative writing and poetry at UCI, and the Saddleback and Irvine Community Colleges. Michael Chabon was one of his instructors. Mr. Crabtree moved to Tennessee in 1994 from Laguna California after he retired. He resides on a small ranch next to Fall Creek Falls State Park on the Cumberland Plateau. He has a daughter in McLean, Virginia, and his son, also at Windsong Ranch. Early in his career, as a well site Geologist in Petroleum Exploration, he worked for a year in Alberta, and British Colombia, Canada. Then several more years in the “oil patch” of the Gulf Coast area in the USA. His occupation next provided him the opportunities to experience the many cultures of South America, the South Pacific; Tahiti, Tuamotu Archipelagos, and Marquesas Islands; New Zealand, and Australia; plus short stints in other countries. Mr. Crabtree is a member of the Chattanooga Writer’s Guild and a past member of the Wednesday Writer’s Group.
Favorite Books Some of the major literary influences on his work are Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami, Flannery O’Conner, Raymond Carver, and the master storyteller of all time ... Miguel de Cervantes.
