| Introduction | I am a now retired, but life and my work have taken me across the U.S. and Canada, as well as a fair number of distant locations in Europe and Asia. While those travels have been broadening and exciting, they have often been short and task oriented. When the travel was for work, I occasionally spent longer getting where I was going – and getting back – than I spent at my actual destination. When my travel was for pleasure, it was almost always limited by the amount of vacation time I had accrued – and that was seldom longer than a week or two. With a bit of good luck – and good health – I hope to spend much less time doing travel and much more time being a traveler. |
