| Introduction | Sandie Fenton, a long time Jamaica Plain artist grew up in the California desert and the Florida coastline, and criss-crossed the country many times as a child. She was always a maker of objects and grew up exposed to Native American and African art as well as contemporary sculpture and painting. For many years she has combined an interest in color, movement, and form, with myth, storytelling, and time. She is currently working in mixed media and riveted metal. Her continuing interest in moving back and forth between the present and the past led her to create "The Time Project" in 2009, which brought together eleven established artists, all women between the ages of 54 and 75. The purpose of The Time Project is to make and protect a space for working deeper and more experimentally and sharing the journey with a community of fellow travelers. Sandie Fenton has participated in numerous group and solo shows. Her work has been represented in over 100 galleries throughout the U.S.,Europe, and Japan, and is in many private collections. She recently completed a commission for the Children's Hospital in Waltham, Ma. |
