Introduction | Writing about medieval and Tudor history, with a particular interest in women's lives and experiences. I'm the author of twenty-eight books and have also written for The Guardian, TLS, BBC History website, The New Statesman, The Huffington Post, The English Review and The London Magazine. I've appeared in TV documentaries and have been interviewed numerous times live on radio. Interests | Historian of women's lives in the medieval and early modern period, from queens to commoners. Particular interest lies in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century, in gender relations, queenship and identity, rites of passage, pilgrimage, female orthodoxy and rebellion, superstition, magic, fertility and childbirth. Also interested in Modernism, especially Woolf and Picasso. |
