The Mad Physicist

About me

Industry Science
Occupation Mathematical Physicist

Introduction I finished my current adventure in experimental physics at the University of California, Riverside, as a researcher in the physics department, carrying out research in condensed matter physics. We were concerned with obtaining high resolution measurements of the three dimensional electron momentum and spin density of metallic and ferromagnetic thin films and crystalline alloys.

Currently, I am putting experimental physics on the back burner and trying my hand at mathematics and theoretical physics. I decided on this risky move because of my lifelong love for mathematics and physical theory - more so than experiment. Thus, at the moment, I am learning more advanced level mathematics. Recently, I have become interested in Garrett Lisi's E8-based representation of the Standard Model (which decribes three forces of nature) plus gravity! E8 is this elegant eight-dimensional Lie group. From my physics background, I understand much of the structure of the standard model, however, we have yet to cover anything close to the E8 Lie group in my group theory class.
