Introduction I'm a co-founder of the Compact, which began with 10 people challenging each other to a year of not buying new products. Used stuff is ok with us. We took a few exceptions and set out in 2006. Some media picked up the story and this blog changed from a way of talking to each other and our families to a wider venue for talking about sustainability and ecology. I'm still (kinda) Compacting and am currently the only Compactor blogging here. I don't stay to the anti-consumption theme at all times. I've been known to write about everything from bikes to anti-capitalist efforts to food to gay rights. For me, it's all connected and single issue activism is lame.
