Interests | I always enjoyed my talks with author, John Cooper, as we would discuss new projects or conversations during a book signing road trip, as he would reminisce about when he was a kid playing sports. I will remember my times with him, over 20 years, through stories that will come to mind from time-to-time, making me laugh and smile to myself. Cooper would have a late-night thought after watching a game on TV and call my phone out of the blue to discuss and get my opinion. I will miss those calls. As my kids grew up, I would think back to those days and challenge them to go outside, find a friend and play something, anything! To my delight my son started doing this on his own. It seemed to be his passion to want to play, compete and get dirty. I have always admired his passion for sports and his will to overcome weaknesses through them. I never wanted to impose my love of sports and fitness on any of my children. For me, I prefer a self-imposed interest and from that interest I would follow their lead. It was a combination of my son’s passion and my community involvement to promote youth sports by sponsoring summer events through my business which lead to the creation of Dewey Does. In 2000, I self-published my first book in the Dewey Does book series; “Dewey Does 4 Prez.” A book about Dewey Does being tricked by his friend, Fussie Fran, into running for class president against his number one nemesis, the Stape Twins. Years later I produced my first three-part animation short ‘Dewey Does 4 Prez’, available on Youtube. In honor of John Cooper, we are proud to announce the publication of the three-book series in hardcover; First Day, In The Groove, and The Comeback, that inspire children to read and lead. (Please note: for every purchase of any Dewey Does book 50 cents will be donated to the Dewey Does Foundation, a 501©3 since 2006, to promote youth sports, fitness and fight childhood obesity.)
