Introduction I came to the Graduate School of Education in 2009 to pursue a M.S. in Education in TESOL at the University of Pennsylvania. This spring I will graduate with a deeper understanding and interest in educational and sociolinguistics and second language acquisition, as well as a keen interest an international policies affecting education, particularly in regards to language use. I am particularly interested in educational opportunity for young people in "Latin America" -- also exploring what constructs we have eveloped as Westerners in which to view Central and South America. What ideals do Westerns bring? Through what lens do we examine? How do we push past existing notions of high and low culture?
Interests Teaching, writing and reading poetry, developing educational programs, traveling to new places, bike riding, languages, visiting museums and practicing yoga.
Favorite Books 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, The Postman, Fight Club, The Catcher in the Rye, One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, The Great Gatsby, The Alchemist, Open Veins of Latin America, Yoga Sutras + more
