Introduction Portrait photography is the capture by means of photography of the likeness of a person or a small group of people, in which the face and expression is predominant. The objective is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the subject. A portrait is composed image of a person in a still position, often showing a person looking directly at the camera. Many portraits are created for public display ranging from fine art portraiture, to commercial portraiture such as might be used to illustrate a company's annual report, to promotional portraiture such a might be found on a book jacket showing the author of the book. Corporate headshots similar to those used by artists. Executives are sometimes shown formally, wearing suits and shirts. In the last decade, many executives have selected a more casual, approachable image for their headshots, reflecting a culture that no longer dresses formally in the workplace. Lighting for corporate headshots is simple and nondramatic, but flattering. I prefer natural lighting and shoot on location. Subjects are often shown head-to-midchest, or from head to just above the waist.
