Introduction Kelly ErnstFriedman is a sociocultural anthropologist and freelance writer. Kelly recently completed her dissertation, "'A Revolution We Create Daily': Freegan Alternatives to Capitalist Consumption in New York City," with the New York City freegans, critical consumption activists. Kelly's research focus on contemporary urban activism, combined with her professional dedication to interdisciplinary projects and philosophy utilizing community-based learning and research, prompted her to create ContextAnalysis, a qualitative research firm. The methodologies and perspectives of anthropology are tools for collaborative social change and ContextAnalysis utilizes those tools to enhance non-profits' abilities to outreach, assess needs and serve local communities.
