Introduction | Aware of the dissonance between my experience and observation and how this world is presented to me - I know things are not as they seem. Maybe it is because I am a middle child - but I am governed by an interest in finding common ground, exploring the mutual interests and the mutual benefits we might realize together. I am staggered by the waste of our world, we squander so much when we choose to dominate rather than work in partnership. Having studied Social & Political Sciences at Cambridge University and spent 17 years working with young people trying to navigate the consequences of urban poverty in inner London, I now live in the US. My antennae are attuned to inequality and gender relations. I have an American husband and an American child. I have experienced birth, I am experiencing child rearing, the labour market, the local politics, the vibrant community, childcare co-operatives, and soon the public education system. I have a deep and high vantage point as I can see across the pond. There are so many differences between the US and UK, why? Here I will share these questions and observations. |
