| Introduction | The biggest thing about me is that I want to help- I want to bring happiness to those who are sad; fullness to those who are empty; a sense of calm to those who are on edge. I want to help people in the process of learning to see themselves for the beautiful perfectly broken people they are and help them realize they are important, worthy, special and invaluable human beings. My goal is to bring my background of mental health counseling together with my experience with art therapy, yoga, reiki, holistic health, and own personal struggles to pave the way for an entirely new wave of healing modalities that takes the entire person into account and works to prevent illness before it settles in. As a mother, my own children are my world and everything I do in life is motivated by them and wanting the absolute best for them all. I have been through my fair share of struggles with darkness and have always made it out to the light. That is what I strive for- for me, my children, my family, my friends, my world. In the end, no matter what, I truly believe we all deserve a chance and we all deserve to be loved and happy |
| Interests | Yoga is my life. I could practice it 24 hours a day. I love teaching and sharing my love of all things yoga with my students (and anyone else who will listen). I am an Usuii Reiki Master and attuned in Karuna Reiki as well. I am beginning my journey into educating myself about the Buddha and Buddhism. I am interested in holistic health and am always educating myself about different holistic modalities- particularly energy work, ayurveda, massage, the use of herbs to heal and the benefits of aromatherapy. I have begun an interest in the martial arts and would like to begin tai kwon do (i fell in love with kick-boxing a long time ago). I love art and would love to use my Art History undergrad degree to help support artists and all people and things creative. I love nature, especially tall trees, fall leaves, hot, hot heat, singing birds, a big yellow sun and bright blue sky, and a wicked thunder storm while lying in my bed at night. I am supported by beautiful people and love spending my time with them. Last, but not least, my biggest interest is in the lives of my three beautiful and amazing children who make me smile and appreciate life every day. |
| Favorite movies | I am a sucker for romantic comedies, especially if they involve Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock; the deeper, darker side of me is obsessed with psychological thrillers of any kind; Some varied favorites are "The Station Agent"; "My Life as a House"; "The Safety of Objects"; "The Machinist"; "American Psycho" (and just about anything else involving Christian Bale- he is amazingly talented; "American Beauty"; "Little Children"; "Copy Cat"; and the perfectly frightful "Halloween" (the original, of course). |
| Favorite music | Varied. Whenever I get asked that question I can never pin one artist or genre down. I guess it comes down to what resonates with me emotionally, what I can relate to, and, of course, what makes me feel like singing at the top of my lungs and dance til my feet hurt. Some all time faves would include "Arcade Fire"; "Afghan Wigs"; "Social Distortion"; "Sonic Youth"; "The Red Hot Chili Peppers"; Foo Fighters"; "Smashing Pumpkins"; "Radiohead"- hands down the MOST amazing musicians ever; New faves include "Mumford and Sons"; "Modest Mouse"; "Death Cab for Cutie"; "Damien Rice"; "The Bravery"; "Adele"; "The Fray"; |
| Favorite books | Anything I have ever read by Pema Chodron- hands down; Thich Nhat Hanh, especially "You Are Here"; "Life Without Ed"; "The Spiritualality of Imperfection"; |
