| Introduction | Born in Goa while my mum was vacationing, raised in East Africa, and came to Canada in my early teens. I look for easy cooking methods, with ingredients readily found in my Canadian homeland, and fuse the traditions and flavors of Goa, East Africa and Canada. I had to readjust 12 years ago when my husband became vegetarian. Being largely meat and fish eaters until that time, I had to become creative to include the Goan tastes in my Veg cooking. Married with 2 children who are now in their twenties, simplicity is the basis of all my cooking. With my son recently married, and my daughter away in University I have decided to keep a journal of my time in the kitchen so that my children, friends and family may step into my space and find some joy in preparing some of the recipes I have shared. My recipes include not only Goan traditional foods but other favorites that have woven their way into my recipe books. The beauty of being Goan is that we have made homes all over the world and have not only kept our traditional foods, but have also found a home for recipes that have been influenced by the Countries we have spent time in.
