About me

Introduction I am a first generation Latina college graduate. My adventure into higher education started out at Rio Hondo Junior College in Whittier, California where I received my Associates of Arts degree in General Education. I then went off to California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) in Fullerton, California and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Then I decided to go even further, I enrolled in an online graduate program at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I received a Master’s degree in Human Services. Throughout this whole time, I have also worked in higher education. I started out as a Federal Work Study student assistant working in the Financial Aid Office at CSUF and worked my way up to Assistant Director. After I left CSUF and the financial aid office, I ended up working in the office of the Vice President of Student Affairs at California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI). The position of Retention Support Specialist was created to provide students at CSUCI with the additional support and guidance to maneuver through their college experience.
