Introduction Welcome blog readers! My name is Sarah & I am a preschool administrator. I am passionate about early education, because I believe the first five years of a child’s life is when the magic happens. Growing up my mom worked at Disney, the Happiest Place on Earth. My early memories were filled with wonder that it’s no surprise I developed such a vivid imagination. I recently took my two sons for their first Disney trip. As you can see, Disney let them engage their imagination in very real ways. In today’s standard-based culture, I worry we are losing sight of the importance of play and wonder. My quest is to raise awareness about the benefits regarding play. My mother raised me as a single parent. I marvel at the struggles she overcame. Not only did she provide for us on a limited income, she also put herself back to school, and filled us with much love. My relationship with my mother helped me as a child overcome the loss of an absentee father. On the whole, children can be surprisingly resilient when a caring adult is invested in them. What role does play has on a child’s development? How do you think you can encourage rich play experiences for children?
