| Introduction | Languages are ever-changing, like ourself. An ordinary term may sometimes show different faces, unexpectedly taking on a new lustre. I hope the blog will provide you with the joy of thinking about a language in depth and discovering its history, as well as the pleasure of exploring the roots of English culture and learning of their contemporary significance. I am also interested in the myth of national foundation in the British Isles in Middle English romance; Englishness; Medieval English/English literature’s impact on contemporary fantasy stories and their historical lineage; the relation between philology and English literary studies in the early 20th century. My passion for English comes from a meeting with wonderful host families in Australia. I respect Rowan Atkinson. |
