| Introduction | I'm a 22 year old college student who suffers from a debilitating and rare form of migraines. I carry ear plugs in my purse to combat the excessive noise of every day life and own a pill organizer that puts my grandmother's to shame. I'm living in a world that's not made for me and struggling with a life that no one understands, but I continue to press on by taking things one day at a time. I am plagued with an illness that prevents me from having a life and doing what I want. Despite this terrible situation, I strive to unearth the deeper meanings in my experiences, which bring me hope and fuel a positive attitude. My goal is to find one thing each day that is meaningful, brightens my life, or just brings a smile to my face. Through everything, I have come to the realization that being sick and having a chronic illness does not--and will not--define who I am as a person, but rather is simply a part of my story and is working to shape me into a better, more caring person. Though my journey is not easy by any means, I am learning to find the blessings in life and hope to pass these on to others. |
