Introduction After raising three kids, with all that entails, hubby and I looked forward to the Empty Nest. The first week after dropping off our youngest at college, we sipped wine on the back porch every evening. No scout meeting! No running to the store for last minute science project supplies! No moody teenager stomping past! Yeehah! The "honeymoon" didn't last (life does encroach) but we did have the freedom to go on weekend trips, dinner out, etc. Then came the diagnosis. My mom had been acting strangely for quite some time, and the confusion and memory loss finally made sense. Alzheimer's. Decisions had to be made, prayers offered up. In October of 2010 Mima came to live with us. No more empty nest. No more weekend getaways, at least not without a lot of planning. This blog is about the adjustments we've made, the things we've learned. The title is a bit deceptive, since my husband has been 100% supportive (and I think Mima likes him better than me). Most of the day though, it's just Mima and Me. Come along for the ride - I don't promise that it will be smooth, and I don't know how long it will last, but I sure could use the company.
