Introduction Peter Mageto Maiko had a dream: that some day there might be a place in his western Kenya village with books for students to read. He never had a book growing up, yet had come from the village to graduate from college in Kenya and then do post grad work at Garrett Seminary in Chicago. In 2003 he and his family were invited to come live in Evansville IN where Aldersgate UMC had an empty parsonage. He would be working on his doctoral dissertation and serving as student pastor. In 2005,5 students from Signature School in Evansville Indiana started working on Peter’s dream, which he had shared one day in his lecture on HIVAIDS and education. With the help of the Evansville community, funds were raised in just 3 month's time. Construction began shortly after in Kenya by local workers. Peter’s brother coordinated the building crews and materials in his home village. The library was inaugurated in 2006 in Ekerenyo, Kenya, with 11 people from Evansville attending.
