| Introduction | I started teaching in 1976 after graduating from Iowa Wesleyan College with a degree in Elementary Education and a reading endorsement. I taught in the Pekin School District for 10 years before staying home with my 3 children for six years. During my time at home, I owned a home business, Dose's Trophies and Awards. I continued with my home business after I returned to the field of education where I did a year and a half of substitute teaching before taking the computer technology job at Lincoln School. My husband, Ron, taught for over 30 years at the Fairfield Middle School as the physical education teacher, along with numerous coaching positions over the years. He is now retired from teaching but does some subbing, paints houses, and is coaching girls' track and middle school cross country. We have 3 children: Kari, 27, works at the Des Moines Alternative High School as their therapist. Erin, 25, works as an external auditor for Deloutte in Des Moines. She is going to be married in September of 2010, to Mike Bryant. Eric, 23, is currently going to grad school for K-12 guidance counseling. He attends Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. |
