About me

Introduction Kate Jessop started out as an artist and musician and accidently ended up as a filmmaker after being slipped a copy of Final Cut Pro. Self taught, she made her first narrative film 'Desires' at 26, which was subsequently internationally toured several times, shortlisted for the Virgin Media Shorts award and is now distributed through Shorts International. She received Arts Council funding to make 'When the Telescope Came' which was an award winning film. She worked with Comma Film, being produced by Ra Page adapting works of writers such as Simon Armitage and David Constantine; her work described as 'enchanting' and 'magical'. She recently branched out into comedy, penning 'Girls Guide to Muso Boyfriends' a film inspired by her misspent youth in the Manchester music scene.
