About me

Introduction SISTERS OF CRAFT is an independent project about women craft cooperatives in selected cultures, wanting to raise awareness about the value of craft and encourage conscious consumption. The project started in 2013 as a collaboration between Finnish spatial designer Minna Östman and Belgian/Australian photographer Dieter Berghmans and is supported by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. By focusing on selected women craft cooperatives in Finland, Tanzania, Australia and Bali, the aim is to showcase similarities and differences in cultural expressions and traditions. A first exhibition of the work will be held in Finland in August 2014 and in the other participating countries within time. SISTERS OF CRAFT wants to encourage the women to believe in them selves and their work. It is said that when you help women you help the whole society. We are all part of a bigger whole - as women and humans.
