Introduction	A portfolio specialist, I work in both the public and private sectors. It is my "public" sector experience that brings me here - as the coordinator for a community health network area that serves 12 communities with multiple committees, coalitions and task forces. It is a privilege to also oversee a teen center that was developed as a 2008 National Make a Difference Day project to address youth/gang violence and underage substance abuse prevention. This project, under the blanket of Southeastern Massachusetts Voices Against Violence, was designated one of the ten projects throughout the U.S. to win a $10,000 award in April 2009 from the USA Weekend News' Make a Difference Day Foundation. SEMA-VAV is a grassroots, all volunteer coalition that serves southeastern Massachusetts to raise awareness about domestic violence, teen dating violence bullying/cyberbullying, suicide prevention and many other issues.
