Introduction	Gina Marie Lewis is a mixed media artist and art educator. Gina’s early works were figurative oil paintings, exploring female form and body language. Her recent work transitions to an exploration of space, abstraction, calligraphic line and layering. "In my current work I express concepts of emotional, spiritual and physical journeys through abstract visual statements, merging elements of my previous mixed media paintings, assemblage and installations with a new process of creating. I am exploring impermanence through acts of abstraction and improvisation.” I continue to strive to take the viewer on a journey through the breadth, depth and subtle nuance of common human experience. I seek to transcend dialogues of culture and politics to create art which exceeds a verbal translation of the visual, speaking directly to experiences of the senses. as an educator i strive to give my students a greater insight into the creative process and to assist them in finding their own voice.
