| Introduction | My name is Rosheta and I am currently attending college to better myself and pursue my dream. I am I was born on January 18, 1975 in the small midwestern city of Gary, Indiana. I lived with both parents until the age of 14 years old. I moved to Atlanta, GA in 1989 with my mom. She longed for better opportunities for herself and I. We left my father due to his constant struggles with alcoholism which devastated our family forcing my mother and I to leave. I became a teen mom at 16 when I gave birth to my son. My last three years of high school were a constant struggle but after hard work and dedication I completed high school, and received my diploma. I was a stay at home mom after my graduation to nurture my son through the most precious years that I never wanted to miss. I often look back and wonder how my father missed those moments in my life. I will never understand. Once my son turned 5 years of age and started kindergarden I worked to provide for my son and myself following in the footsteps of my mother who had always provided for me. After years of being a single parent and making the necessary sacrifices, I made the decision to go back to school to get my education. |
