Introduction | Our journey to adoption started in 1999, one year after we were married. We began trying for homemade babies, and after a year and a half with no luck...we were tested for infertility. After 6 months, we were told that our chances of making our own babies wasn't good. It didn't take us long to decide to adopt. We wanted children and it didn't matter how they came to us. Once the paperwork was completed, we waited to be chosen by a special birthmother for 4 1/2 years, during which time we had a birthmother (who'd chosen to place with another family) live in our home for 5 months. 3 months after she'd placed her baby, we received a phone call for our oldest daughter. 2 years after adopting our first, we felt a deep desire to adopt again...and 5 days after we submitted papers we were chosen for our 2nd daughter. The girls birthmothers are amazing and wonderful women, with whom we enjoy having open adoptions. We are once again searching for another "missing piece" of our family. Adoption has blessed us in miraculous ways...finding one missing piece after another...putting our family together. |
