Introduction Liza-Mare Syron is a descendent from the Birripi people of Tuncurry NSW. A Graduate of the Victorian College of Arts (VCA) in Dramatic Art, Liza-Mare has a Master of Creative Arts Research from Wollongong University (UOW) and a Master of Adult Education (UTS). Liza-Mare is currently a Doctoral candidate at the University of Sydney Performance Studies Department. Other training qualifications include a Certificate in Playwriting (NIDA), Certificate in Small Theatre Production (NIDA) and the Integrated Theatre Management Program (DEET). Liza-Mare received an Australia Day Award in 1998 for, Community Event of the Year (SSC), The Phillip Parsons Prize for Performance as Research (AESDA) 2005. Her directorial credits include, Noughts and Crosses (1997), The Stripper (1998), Seven Stages of Grieving (2001), Funerals and Circuses (2002), Capricornia (2003, EPHEMERA, Aboriginality, Reconciliation, Urban Identities (2004) Liza-Mare is the current coordinator for the Theatre Performance and Practice Course at the Eora College of Aboriginal Studies, Centre for Visual and Performing Arts Redfern, Sydney Australia.
