Introduction	In 1992 Joe Levy began what was to be a six-month research project into sun care research, charged with uncovering the truth about UV, tanning and vitamin D. Sixteen years later Levy is more convinced than ever that humans need regular sunlight to be healthy and that moderate tanning is natural, intended and part of nature's design for human life. He serves as vice president of International Smart Tan Network, the educational institute serving the professional indoor tanning community. Levy also does volunteer work for vitamin D charities and The American Cancer Society.
