About me

Introduction The rational outsider grew up in a town of 500 people in coastal Maine, a place where things were simple, people were honest, and 'stuff' got done. RO has worked in finance, attended a top 5 MBA program, and has found in this 'refined world' a level of practical cluelessness that belies belief. RO is equally impressed with the susceptibility of the electorate to questionable use of statistics and pandering rhetoric from both sides of the isle. RO is blown away by the media's ability to remove any bit of nuance from its coverage of economics and public policy. This blog is an effort to uncover what works in the real world and what doesn't. Along the way we'll exploit some of the more egregious examples of hypocrisy coming from the powers that be, but always with an eye towards the proactive resolution of problems. RO will be wrong on a regular basis and looka forward to many restatements, refutations, and apologies as we seek the best solutions to the challenges facing our country today.
