Introduction My name is Julie B. Booth. I am a fiber artist, fiber arts teacher and owner of Thread Born Dolls. I create multi-layered fabrics using painting, printing and more recently, resist techniques. The resists I use can be found in your kitchen. I spent a year exploring and experimenting with using common household materials as fabric resists as part of a grant project. This led me to write a book, Fabric Printing at Home, that will be published in December 2014. The book shows you how to create print blocks, printing and rubbing plates, stencils and resists from materials you can find in your home. Use these to create your own unique and beautiful fabric designs! Some of the fabrics I create become cloth "dolls" others "speak" to me as pieces of art in and of themselves and with the addition of stitching become "story cloths." I am also a fiber arts teacher who enjoys sharing my surface design discoveries with others. I am a member of F.I.N.E (Fiber in Nearly Everything) a group of mixed media fiber artists who show work locally and nationally. I'm also a member of The Printed Fabric Bee an online group that creates and shares printed fabric.
