About me

Occupation Children's Librarian
Location Toronto, Canada
Introduction I'm a 31-year old wife, mother, children's librarian, and home baker. My mother was an excellent cook and baker, but we lived far apart, so I created this blog as a means of sharing my endeavours with her. Eventually I began writing posts that would hopefully appeal to a wider audience. While I did own an Easy Bake Oven as a child, my experience with baking as an adult was somewhat limited so I turned to the Internet for advice and assistance. I came across many beautiful and inspiring baking blogs, but I had a hard time finding tales of baking "flops" (as my mom would say) and how to solve the mystery of a ruined dessert. Since then I've certainly had my share of "bumbles"! After my mom died in November 2009, I decided to stop posting new entries... my heart simply wasn't in it anymore and every time I baked something I just felt empty. It was easily the darkest time in my life. In April of this year, I gave birth to a baby girl and named her after my mother. I couldn't wait to share with her all of the things I love... including baking. And now I'm ready to post again because if my mother taught me anything, it's that baking is pointless if you're not going to share.
