| Introduction | Sojourning I am from the king sized bed covered with downy quilt and white Italian linen, washed in lavender and hung to dry in the fierce sun. I am from the tiny log cabin nestled in the 97 elms on the hill surrounded by desert for miles and miles. I am from the wild rose bush, the tiny pink riotous blooms in spring that never fail to surprise and delight; hardy deep rooted, prickly grower. I am from the life survivors, peace seekers and prayers, miracle receivers and tear givers. I am from a Catholic mother. I am from the Irish and alcoholic miners and rock lovers, the workaholic carpenter, the bread-makers and the nurturers. I'm from Colorado Mountains and Deserts. Fried chicken and fresh stream rainbow trout traveling to the east to find my mate, to find the book lover and knowledge seeker, the absent-minded scientist with love in his heart, bringing him back home to share, to rest. I am from the cedar chest of photographs and albums, the garage full of covered paintings and packaged art; waiting for re-hanging, for exploration and change. |
