Hoepner is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist, focusing on a balanced approach to overall wellness and maintenance of good health. ■ PRACTICE FOCI INCLUDE: Medication management of mood and anxiety disorders—Strong therapeutic alliance, patient advocacy and provision of evidence-based medicine—Focus on family involvement, patient education, psychosocial rehabilitation and optimization of life functioning. ■ VOLUNTEER WORK: Board Member—National Alliance on Mental Illness; Director, In Our Own Voice. In Our Own Voice (IOOV) is a public education program in which consumer speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. IOOV presentations are given to consumer groups, students, law enforcement, educators, the faith community, and other groups, free of charge. ■ RESEARCH AND WRITING: I conduct case-control studies focused on mood disorders, and on the generalizability of randomized controlled trials of antidepressants. I also write reviews, advocacy pieces and other materials that help clinicians and laypeople alike to treat and to live well with these illnesses. |
